In the past few years, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has expanded its branches in states of the federation, which have created a new forum for the professional development of lawyers.
For instance, from only one branch, the Unity Bar in 2015, the NBA has added new branches in the FCT such as Bwari, Gwagwalada, Garki and Nyanya-Karu.
In Lagos State, from the Lagos Branch, there are new branches in Ikeja, Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe.
The new branches have brought the total number of branches under the association to 128.

Apart from ensuring the smooth administration of justice in their jurisdictions, the new branches contribute to human rights, the promotion of the rule of law and good governance.
Expounding on the mandate of the newest branch of the NBA in the FCT, the Garki branch, its chairman, Obioma Ezenwobodo, expressed determination to take the objectives of the national body forward with the new body.
Speaking during the branch’s 2022 dinner and awards night in December, Ezenwobodo said the branch would stand with the national chairman on national issues and advance the rule of law in the country.
Thrilled by the administrative acumen of the executive of the new branch, a long-standing member of the NBA, Cecil Osakwe, who was recognised for excellence during the event, said he decided to return to bar activities due to the efforts of the new bar.
