It will be recalled that the Youth Games was initially scheduled for 7 to 17 September 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“By the Grace of God, the National Youth Games will still hold this year at the University of Ilorin in the month of October. We adjusted our timetable because the university changed theirs,” he said.
Speaking further, Durotoye urged corporate organisations and philanthropists to join hands with the ministry to develop grassroots sports.
“We are passionate about anything that has to do with grassroots development so we advise and encourage philanthropists and corporate organisations that are interested in the growth of sports to partner with us.
The National Youth Games is a yearly competition meant to facilitate the discovery of budding talents in the country for further development.
It is also a platform for selection of athletes to represent the country at international youth games.
