The Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin, has said that national rebirth is imperative to further strengthen and foster a security architecture reflecting shared identity, inclusiveness, social justice and prosperity for all Nigerians.
He said this while delivering a pre-convocation lecture for the 7th and 8th combined convocation ceremony of the Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State on Friday.
The senator expressed strong belief that with visionary leadership, multi-stakeholder partnership, and citizens’ action, the tide of violence in the country could be progressively tamed, whence attention could be focused towards building Nigeria’s peace infrastructure at the grassroots.
“Nigeria’s security challenges are enormous though not insurmountable. The innovative domestic and regional interventions can dismantle the lethal web of intersecting threats facing the security of our country.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said on Wednesday while presenting the 2024 budget proposal to the joint session of the National Assembly, that defence and internal security were accorded top priority and that the internal security architecture will be overhauled to enhance law enforcement capabilities to safeguard lives, property, and investments across the country.
“We are on the same page with Mr President to address the security challenges facing our country,” Jibrin said.
While noting that he had sponsored a bill for the establishment of a commission to address the challenges facing the North West, he said, “When established, the commission will accelerate the development of the commercial and industrial potentials of the North West geopolitical zone, comprising Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states.”
