The National Lottery Trust Fund on Wednesday donated radiology equipment to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
It comes after a similar presentation of medical equipment to Onikan Health Centre, Lagos.
Executive secretary of the fund, Bello Maigari, said, the intervention is to “deliver world-class, vital medical facilities with the hope that our efforts will make all the difference in saving lives by providing high standard of care not only to vulnerable pregnant women and children, but to other patients seeking urgent interventions with serious diagnostic challenges in the state.”
In his remark, the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume commended the management of the lottery fund for completing over 15 projects in the health sector.
He tasked thee fund to ensure strict monitoring of how the beneficiary hospitals utilized equipment donated by the Fund, saying massive intervention embarked upon by NLTF could transform Nigerian hospital in to world class facilities.
“It is therefore, on the strength of this effort that I encourage the Fund to continue on this laudable path that will soon make overseas medical tourism a thing of the past”, the minister added.
The hospital says the equipment is vital for training of staff and service delivery.
