National library seeks more public funding

The National Library of Nigeria yesterday asked for more public funding to procure and maintain collections to meet the demand of users.
National Librarian, Malam Habib A. Jato made the appeal during an exhibition in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations (UN) in Abuja.
He said more monies are required to buy books and other library and information resources as well as make library buildings more attractive and user-friendly.
Jato said illiteracy leads to poor library patronage adding that national library will ensure that individuals have access to quality information resources.
