Some chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have asked the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC) and other stakeholders of the party to prioritise merit in the choice of the10th National Assembly’s principal officers.
They noted that only lawmakers who had shown strong commitment to the progress and development of the party should be given the opportunity to pilot the affairs of the 10th assembly.
This was contained in a statement yesterday in Abuja by the Coordinator and Secretary of APC Integrity Group, Malam Dawu Mohammed and Comrade Chisom Nwakanma, respectively.
The APC chieftains said picking the senator representing Niger East, Mohammed Sani Musa, as deputy senate president and other senators with impeccable character to fill other offices would give the necessary stimulus for the executive to provide Nigerians with quality leadership.

The statement reads in part: “As a committed APC group which has severally defended the party in our various endeavours, we have studied the political calculations and strongly support the reports of our party zoning the senate principal offices.
“We, therefore, urge our great party to consider retaining its leadership voice at the senate, and as such take into mind the services and efforts made by some great party leaders and stakeholders, especially in the North Central zone.”
