The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has demonstrated its prototype Solar-Powered Cloud-Based Electronic Voting Solution that produces a Permanent Voters Card (PVC) in five minutes.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, who was the first to be  registered with the machine, on Tuesday, in Abuja, said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to the revival of the economy through revival of  local content innovation.

Onu said NASENI was playing an important role in that respect.

He said the project would soon be taken to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the National Assembly and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for necessary approval.

“‎I am happy with what I have seen; first that we can do instant registration. By that, it means that you get registered and the card will be issued to you within five minutes. This is very impressive, and NASENI will not rest until we reduce the five minutes to one minute,” he said.
