The organized labour in Nasarawa State has vowed to continue the ongoing strike action in the state until all their demands are meet.

The decision was contained in a statement signed by State’s Secretaries of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Ahmed Naibi and Trade Union Congress (TUC) Muhammed Umar and made available to newsmen yesterday in Lafia.

According to the statement, since the commencement of the strike May 12, the government has not see any reason to engage the union in discussion, saying ,“The government is rather fraternizing with the impeached NLC Chairman Abdullahi Adeka to further undermine the workers collective struggle.”

The statement explained that the embattled chairman was not the person that declare the strike action in the first place therefore, he lack the moral basis to call for its suspension. The strike action continues and workers are called upon to remain at home. Workers should also shun any rumour on the suspension of the strike by the government agents and rely on updates and directives only from the NLC.”
