Nasarawa varsity declares zero tolerance for sexual harassment, others

Authorities of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, have declared zero tolerance for sex sexual harassment, extortion, examination malpractice and other acts capable of delaying the timely graduation of students.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, stated this while speaking at the inauguration of the Institute of Strategic and Development Communication’s (ISDEVCOM’s) annual lecture and 2024 alumni engagement and onboarding of new ISDEVCOM scholars in Keffi at the weekend.

She disclosed that ISDEVCOM graduated a total of 3,840 postgraduate and undergraduate students from the faculties of agriculture; natural and applied sciences; communication and media studies; and those who went through the special training in science communication programme during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

Speaking further on the theme: “Strategic Communication, Patriotism and National Security”, she said, “Nasarawa State University under my leadership is renowned for its commitment to uphold the highest ethical principles and core national values in the process of pursuing the vision and mission of the university.

“We are determined to ensure that staff and students engage in a mutually beneficial atmosphere devoid of vices like extortion, examination malpractice, sexual harassment and other acts capable of delaying the timely graduation of students.

“I believe that is one way we can position our postgraduate programmes in particular to remain very competitive and impactful.”
