Nasarawa United will face an uphill task Wednesday afternoon, when they host former African champions, Enyimba FC in one of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League week 8 matches at the Lafia Township stadium.
Without doubt, this is a mouth watering contest between the first and second on the NPFL table and the eventual winner would have the chance of moving to the top pending the outcome of tomorrow’s match between Katsina United and Rivers United in Katsina.

However, if the matches in Lafia and Katsina United end in draws, only Nasarawa United will lose their position to Sunshine Stars, if the ‘Akure Gunners’ would gun down Abia Warriors in Aba.
So to at least maintain their top three position, Nasarawa United must avoid defeat against their more illustrious opponents.
Rivers United also have an uphill task in their bid to maintain leadership of the log because they are up against wounded Katsina United who were trampled upon by the ‘Peoples elephants’ in week 7 in Aba.
Elsewhere, relegation threatened Adamawa United and Abia Warriors will also be in the hunt for their first win when they take on Akwa United and Sunshine Stars respectively.
While Adamawa United suffered a slim 0-1 loss at Rivers United in week 7, Abia Warriors managed to hold Lobi Stars to 0-0 draw in Makurdi.
In Kaduna, Kano Pillars who lost 0-1 at Akwa United will also be aiming to bounce back to winning ways when they host Jigawa Golden Stars at the Ahmadu Bello stadium.
High riding Kwara United will host Lobi Stars and strugglers Warri Wolves have their hands full when they battle Plateau United in Warri.
And in Enugu, Rangers 1-3 losers at Sunshine Stars in week 7 will attempt to atone for that painful loss when they entertain Dakkada FC just as Wikki Tourists will go in search of MFM’s scalp at the Tafawa Balewa stadium in Bauchi.
In the other Thursday, February 4 fixture, Heartland who lost narrowly to Jigawa Golden Stars will welcome neighbours FC IfeanyiUbah who were 1-0 winners over Wikki Tourist in week 7.
