Chairman of Nasarawa United FC, Barrister Isaac Danladi has dedicated his club’s continental ticket to the governor of the state, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and his deputy, Mr. Silas Agara.

Nasarawa picked one of the CAF Confederation tickets on the final day of the 2014-2015 league season after the League Management Company awarded the stalemated match against Giwa FC to them.

Speaking to Daily Trust, the chairman said the feat achieved by his club was made possible by the unflinching support from the sports loving governor of the state.

He said when the league started, nobody gave them a chance but Nasarawa United stepped up its performance in the second stanza to pick a continental ticket after eight seasons with international football.

“When the league started nobody thought we would end third on the table. However, even as we were not given a chance, we kept pushing and in the second stanza we battled harder to get away wins which really helped us to pick one of the continental tickets.

“We shall be representing Nigeria in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup and with the support of our government, we shall do Nigeria proud.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without the full support of our governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and his able deputy, Hon. Silas Agara.

“I am sure they will redouble their support for the club to enable us justify our qualification for the CAF competition.

“We represented Nigeria eight years ago when the present deputy governor was commissioner of sports. Today he is in a better position to support our aspirations,” he said.

Danladi also maintained that the continental ticket was a befitting birthday gift to the governor who celebrated his birthday on the same day Nasarawa United picked the ticket to represent Nigeria.

“We are also happy that we gave the governor a befitting birthday gift. The continental ticket was won on the day the governor celebrated his birthday.

“There was no better way to say a big thank you to His Excellency than to bring him the continental ticket that was sought after by so many clubs.”
