NPFL side, Nasarawa United, defeated hard-fighting rookies, Like Minds FC 2-1 on Sunday to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing Unity Pre-season football tournament in Abuja.
The ‘Solid Miners’ who sit on top of Group A with the maximum points from two matches opened their campaign on Saturday with a convincing 2-0 win over newly promoted National Division Two side, Mailantarki FC.

Mohammed Sanusi and Ayuba Francis scored in each half of the match played at the refurbished Old Parade Ground, Area 10 in Abuja.
Reacting to the win, Coach Abubakar Arikya said “Yes, we thank almighty Allah for the win and we pray that we continue to win.
“It is our first match in this pre-season. It’s somehow difficult.”
Nasarawa United who finished as runners-up in the first edition of the tournament in 2021 then followed up with yesterday’s victory over Like Minds.
Obasi Denis put his side in front in the 9th minute but on resumption, hard-fighting Like Minds drew level through Hope Naala’s goal in the 49th minute before Ibe Agu scored the winner for the ‘Miners’ in the 59th minute.
In the other match played yesterday, EFCC FC failed to arrest Wikki Tourists as both teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.
Wikki Tourists took the lead in the 30th minute through captain of the side, Mohammed Idris Guda but Isaiah Monday drew EFCC level in the 65th minute.
In his reaction, Coach Adamu Abdullahi of Wikki Tourists said “It was a litmus test for both sides.
“Before next match, we would make corrections on the lapses identified today (yesterday), ‘’ he assured.
