Nasarawa: Teacher defiles pupil in class

A primary school teacher in Agwatashi town of Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Alaga Solomon Ari, has been arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old pupil.

The pupil of S.U.M Priamary School, Agwatashi, name withheld, said that Ari sent her on an erand to the classroom after closing hours, adding that he followed her and forcibly defiled her.

She said he inflicted serious injuries on her in the process.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident.

He said: “On 16/08/20, at about 0745hrs, a case of rape was reported that one Alaga Solomon had, on 14-8-2020, lured and unlawfully had canal knowledge of a 15-year-old girl at Agwatashi, Obi LGA of Nasarawa State.

“Upon receipt of the information, the Police went after the suspect and arrested him.

“The commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, has directed that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for a more thorough investigation.”
