The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in  Nasarawa state on Thursday held a peaceful rally to condemn the attack on Governor Ayodele Fayose by the Nigerian Police Force.

Addressing the party supporters drawn from the 13 local government areas and wards levels shortly after the protest in Lafia, the state chairman of the party, Francis Orogu, expressed worried over the ill treatment meted on their members, describing the ugly political development in the state as undemocratic.

The chairman called on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to remain neutral in the cause of providing security in Ekiti state election as well as the forthcoming general elections in the country.

Orogu in a letter of protest submitted to the state commissioner of police, Nasarawa state command,  Yahaya Bello, reads, "Our appeal to the IGP, Ibrahim Idris is to remain neutral in the cause of providing security in Ekiti state election and in the forthcoming  2019 general elections across the country."

Orogu said what is happening in Ekiti state, the members of PDP in the state felt threatening by the unconstitutional action displayed by the police force and other security operatives in the state, "Our members of PDP on peaceful rally were tear-gased and some political leaders manhandled. We are demanding for a fear play ground from all the political parties in the state."

The chairman maintained that if the security operatives in the country continue to display act of favouritism in democratic activities, it would hinder electorates in the country to elects the best presidential candidate and candidates at all levels of their choice in the forthcoming general elections.
