Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has advised Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to adhere strictly to budgetary provisions and ensure financial probity in their spending for accountability and good governance.
Hon Aliyu Dogara, chairman of the committee made the call when they paid an oversight visit to assess the 2020 budget performance of the Ministry of Finance in Lafia.

Dogara (APC-Wamba) said adhering strictly to budgetary provisions would not only ensure transparency and accountability but also give room for peace and development of the state.
The chairman said any money spent is supposed to be approved by the House.
“We are here to assess your budget performance because we approved the budget, so we should know how far you have gone in its implementation. The state governor is preparing and will present the 2021 budget soon,” he said.
“You are urged to spend within budgetary provisions and you should avoid over spending. For you to spend any money, if necessary, you have to seek for the House’s approval,” he said.
He appreciated the efforts of the ministry for being up and doing in improving the revenue base of the state and called for its sustenance.
Earlier, Mr Haruna Adamu Ogbole, the Commissioner for Finance, thanked the House for the cooperation it has been giving to the ministry.
He told the committee that the revenue generation of the state was improving and expressed the ministry’s determination to continue to be up and doing in improving on the revenue base of the state.
