Nasarawa State has joined Ogun, Osun and Kogi as states contributing over N1 billion monthly to the federation account from mining royalties.
The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, who disclosed this during a courtesy call on Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, said that from available records, Nasarawa had now joined the league of states contributing over N1bn to the federation account from mineral resources.
Represented by Obadiah Simon Nkom, DG of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, the minister said Nasarawa was coming fourth after Ogun, Osun and Kogi.
Responding, Governor Sule noted that this was the first time that the Nasarawa’s monthly revenue on solid minerals had gone beyond N1bn.

Governor Sule said the plan of his administration was to be on top of the log, especially with the discovery of additional reserves of lithium in the state.
He said a significant discovery of lithium in Amba, Kokona LGA, had the potential to propel Nasarawa to the top of the list of states contributing the highest amount of revenue to the federation account from solid minerals.
The governor, therefore, requested the ministry to intervene and resolve the impasse surrounding the lithium discovery in Amba.
