Nasarawa govt holds emergency meeting on Nasarawa Utd’s poor performance

The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu-Akabe, convened an emergency meeting with key stakeholders of Nasarawa United Football Club following the team’s unexpected 0-1 home defeat to Kwara United in the ongoing 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The meeting, held at the Deputy Governor’s temporary office in Lafia, brought together club management led by Solomon Babanjah, the coaching staff headed by Kabir Dogo, player representatives including Captain King Osanga (MON), and Nasarawa State Football Association officials under Salisu Galadima ‘Basira.’

A statement signed by Nasarawa United FC’s media director, Eche Amos, noted that the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Jafaru Ango, and Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan also attended.

During the meeting, Dr. Akabe expressed his disappointment over the Solid Miners’ inconsistent performance in the league, particularly the recent loss to Kwara United, which he deemed unacceptable.

“This meeting is necessitated by the loss on Sunday to Kwara United. His Excellency, the Governor and my principal, is very upset about this and has directed me to convene this meeting to find a way through for our Club.

“The loss and poor run of form by the Club is totally unacceptable, and we must take drastic measures to restore our team’s competitiveness. We will work round the clock to ensure that our players and team members receive the best support and resources to excel”, he said.

Our correspondent also reports that parts of the key discussion points centred on improving the strategy, player motivation, welfare, and changing the coaching tactics and decision-making.
