Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, has said practical counter-terrorism strategy is required in the northeast region if the one in use failed to produce the desired result.
The governor stated this weekend when he led a delegation comprising the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Sen. Umar Tanko Almakura; Emir of Lafiya, Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed (Rtd); Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo Mohammed II and Senator John Danboye to commiserate with Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, over the killing of farmers in Zabarmari, in Maiduguri.
“We use this opportunity to call on all our leaders, including Mr. President that it is time for us to start thinking differently, we have tried so many options; if the options did not resolve our problems there is nothing wrong with looking at other options so that we can solve our problems once and for all,” he said.
In a related development, Governor Zulum yesterday received the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdurrazaq in Maiduguri.
The Kwara governor was in Maiduguri to commiserate with Zulum and the people of Borno over the killing of farmers in Zabarmari.
Responding, Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the delegation for their visit.
