The government of Nasarawa State has contracted Abuja based construction company, Reform Sports West Africa Limited to immediately renovate Lafia Township stadium.

Speaking during the brief ceremony in Lafia, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Ambassador Lucky Isaac Yargwa said the contract is for laying of a new astro-turf on the football field, construction of tartan track for athletics and a hockey pitch as earlier directed by the state governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule.

He said “Sports and youth development are some of the mainstays of the Governor Sule administration who has made it categorically clear that he would revamp the sector to meet the best practices.

“We are a state blessed with so many sports talents and enthusiasts, so we can’t afford to fail them. We have the mandate to make facilities readily available to them in order to harness their potential.”

The Commissioner also disclosed that the choice of Reform Sports West Africa was informed by the company’s pedigree and credibility.

Yargwa said the stadium will be ready for any kind of sporting activity in the next couple of weeks.

“We have sorted out all the grey areas, and I can assure you that our stadium will be ready for any kind of sporting events soon.

“This is to enable our sports men and women to return to the facilities upon completion.”

Responding, the CEO of Reform Sports West Africa, Mr. Michael Adamu, said his company will deliver the job within the given time.

He also assured that the facilities to be provided would stand the test of time.
