The Nasarawa State Government has begun fumigation of 179 secondary and 1408 primary schools across the state ahead of reopening of schools.

The General Manager of Nasarawa State Environmental Protection Agency, Iliyasu Yusuf Adeka, said that the exercise was part of the measures put in place by the state government to combat termites and reptiles before students and pupils resume schools after months of Coronavirus break.

According to him, “The schools are expected to reopen for students on Monday 5 this month after closure of schools for some months ago due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.”

He said the chemicals applied are environmentally friendly and not harmful to human beings and that will also guarantee the safety of the pupils and students in their schools.

He called on the principals and headmasters of the schools to give necessary support needed to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

The General Manager who was together with the Director of Climate Change of the Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources, Atinuke Chammang, visited schools in Obi, Keana and Awe Local Government areas to ensure smooth running of the exercise.
