Leading Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side, Nasarawa Amazons, have reached the final of the 2024 edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT) after a pulsating victory over hosts Edo Queens in one of the semi-final matches played Monday.
The match played at the University of Benin Sports Complex in Benin City ended 2-2 in regulation time before the resultant shoot-out.
In the penalty shoot-out, the girls from Nasarawa State kept their nerves to win 7-6 to reach their first final in the prestigious pre-season tournament that commenced with 14 clubs.
Therefore, Nasarawa Amazons will contest the title match with fellow NWFL side, Bayelsa Queens, who edged Heartland Queens 2-0 in the second semi-final match played at the same venue.

The 12-day tournament, the fourth in the series, started on October 6 and is scheduled to end on October 17 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City.
The champions of the tournament will smile home with N10m prize money.
The FIFA-accredited tournament is a brainchild of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki.
Meanwhile, a seminar on the theme of this year’s edition, “Say No to Teenage Pregnancy and Child Motherhood,” is billed to be held today in Benin City as part of events lined up for the tournament.
The seminar which aims to discuss the problems associated with teenage pregnancy and child motherhood is expected to attract all the First Ladies from the 36 States of the federation.
