Nasarawa Amazons’ mercurial midfielder, Adoo Yina, has etched her name into the annals of football history by becoming the first African player to win the Player of the Match Award at the ongoing U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The Benue born player’s eye-catching performance was pivotal in the Falconets’ 1-0 victory over Korea Republic on Monday at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo.
Adoo, often referred to by her nickname “Jay-Jay Okocha” due to her dazzling skills reminiscent of the legendary Nigerian footballer, is not new to such honour for she is known for outstanding performances in the Nigeria Women Football League (NPFL) with Nasarawa United.
