The Edo State commander, Benin Zonal Office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Barr Nduka Nwanene, has disclosed that the agency has arrested 74 human traffickers and secured the conviction of five others in Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states.
Nwanene disclosed this over the weekend during the agency’s sensitization and community dialogue against human trafficking organised in collaboration with the Oba of Benin taskforce on human trafficking in Idunmwuniye, Uhunmwode LGA of Edo State.

He said the arrests were made within one year in the three states in the zone with the collaboration of members of the public who gave intelligence reports to the agency.
“We have arrested 74 traffickers, rescued 96 victims, secured the conviction of five others within one year in Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states,” he said.
