The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South-West zone has given the Outstanding Personality Distinguished award to the Rector of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe.
Chairman of NANS JCC, Lagos State, Comrade Abdulquowiyy Busari, who led a delegation to the College, noted that the award was given to Omokungbe in recognition of his leadership and infrastructural drive, which he said has created a conducive a environment for proper learning and teaching.

The remarkable achievement of the Rector within the few years of his administration, according to Busari gave him the edge over four others.
The Director of Gender, NANS South-West zone, Comrade Precious Abimbola who read the Rector’s citation, mentioned that Omokungbe through his antecedents has shown that leadership is not about title or designation but about impact, influence and inspiration.
“Your unrelenting contributions towards youth and students developmental projects and passion for education were also considered as criteria for this honour bestowed on the rector.”
Omokungbe thanked NANS as he promised that the award will spur him to do more. He also assured that the Student Union Government (SUG) will soon be resuscitated in Yabatech.
