Super Eagles and Lobi Stars striker Nanen Imenger has said he is beginning to dream continental football with the Benue State team.
The son of former international, Barnabas Imenger who scored the team’s lone goal on Sunday to hand his side a well deserved 1-0 victory over defending champions Enyimba FC.
The member of the Home-based Super Eagles team to the 2015 CHAN in South Africa said the performance of Lobi Stars in the current season is inspiring and he is expecting nothing short of a continental ticket.
He said Lobi Stars have quality players who can deliver the ticket to the former Nigerian champions.
Imenger also said since the beginning of the season, Lobi did not hide their intention to win the league title so a continental slot won’t be bad for the team.
He maintained that if Lobi do not take their feet off the pedal, nothing that would stop them for returning to the continent in 2017.
“It was a hard victory over Enyimba. I want to believe that continental football is possible for Lobi Stars in 2017.
“Nobody can deny the fact that we have really worked hard for it. Although the league this season has been very tough, we have consistently remained among the top five clubs,” he noted.
Imenger junior therefore called on his team mates to redouble their efforts as he said the remaining matches would decide who wins the title.
“We have to keep the momentum. If we can keep our focus, we can do it in the end,” he said.
