Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju popularly known as Bobrisky has filed a notice of appeal against his conviction and sentence before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
In the notice of appeal filed before Justice Abimbola Awogboro, he wanted the Court of Appeal to set aside the six months conviction maximum imprisonment sentence imposed on him and in its place impose fine of N50,000 on each of the counts against him.
Bobrisky was charged with a four-count charge of having tampered with the naira (legal tender) contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007 and having been convicted and sentenced of the charge by Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division.
Unhappy with the sentence delivered on April 12, 2024 Bobrisky was praying the court to set aside the maximum penalty of the six months’ imprisonment without option of fine on him because he is a first time offender without previous record of criminal conviction.
