Nigeria Patriotic Quest, a group of Nigerian professionals based in the Diaspora, has exonerated the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, from the foreign exchange crisis.

The group, which is asking Emefiele to contest the 2023 presidential election, asked Nigerians to judge him by his concrete achievements as CBN governor rather than listen to “the discordant sounds from the echo chambers of detractors and political mercenaries.”

The coordinator of the group, Ahmed Ja’Usman Tijani, in a statement Sunday, said most of the factors causing Naira devaluation were not within the purview of the CBN.

He said instead of blaming Emefiele, he and his team deserved credit “for how they managed the national economy at this very troubling time without it collapsing totally.”

He advocated enhancement of local production of consumer goods and improvement of healthcare facilities.

He also said oil production should be ramped up; and issues of pipeline vandalism and oil theft, addressed.

Meanwhile, the convener of the Arewa Alliance for the Presidency of Godwin Emefiele, Dauda Kushu, a group of patriotic Northern leaders and politicians, has commenced regional engagements with stakeholders to ensure Emefiele becomes Nigeria’s president in 2023.
