Police in Anambra and Kwara states have warned residents against embarking on mass protest over the acute shortage of naira notes.
The police said the caution became inevitable owing to intelligence that hoodlums had perfected plans to hijack any rally or procession to cause chaos.
The spokesman of Anambra Police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the scarcity of naira notes was not peculiar to the state and urged the residents to maintain peace, assuring that the federal government was making efforts possible to address the problem.
Also, police spokesman in Kwara State, Ajayi Okasanmi, in a statement yesterday, said the ban on protest was temporary to evaluate the security situation in the state.
