The Nigeria Agro Input Dealers Association (NAIDA) has launched its Compliance Monitoring Team on agricultural input distribution/sales in the country to curb cases of fraud and malpractices during government interventions.

The President of NAIDA, Alhaji Kabir Umar Fara, who inaugurated the team on Thursday in Abuja, said the step was necessary in order to tackle cases of malpractices and fraud, which bring bad name to agro-dealers across the country.

Alhaji Fara said NAIDA was committed to self-regulation and collaboration with relevant stakeholders to curb corruption in the distribution of agricultural inputs.

He said the Compliance Monitoring Team reflects NAIDA’s dedication to ensuring the integrity of input distribution and its mission to contribute to sustainable agricultural development in the country.

“The inauguration of this monitoring team across the country will no doubt reduce if not stop the atrocities being perpetrated by unscrupulous dealers within our association, and we promise to self-regulate ourselves so that the burden of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is the recognized government regulator, is reduced considerably,”  the NAIDA president said.

Alhaji Kabir also called for collaboration with relevant stakeholders to address the scarcity of Urea in Nigerian markets, highlighting NAIDA’s commitment to working towards robust and sustainable sales and distribution of quality inputs for both small and large-scale farmers.
