The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Licensed Tour Companies have commenced preparations for the 2019 Hajj Operation.
The Head, Public Affairs Division of NAHCON, Mrs Fatima Usara, made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.
Usara said NAHCON and tour operators had held a meeting with the Executive Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad, on how to ensure better collaboration and synergy with a view to ensuring a successful 2019 Hajj Operation.
Muhammad observed with dismay that some private tour operators, perhaps inadvertently, allowed themselves to be used in committing unethical activities during the recently concluded Hajj and Umrah exercises.
He, therefore, urged the operators to be more vigilant and block the loopholes that allowed unwholesome activities to happen during the 2018 Hajj.
The NAHCON boss reiterated the need for the tour operators to cooperate with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in curtailing “the embarrassing situation”.
He also urged the operators to study and abide by the Saudi Arabian Hajj and Umrah guidelines and cautioned them to remain sincerely committed to their clients by rendering standard services according to terms and conditions agreed upon.
Similarly, Muhammad, advised the operators to report to NAHCON any infringement on delivery of services by service providers.
