The Director General of the agency, Prof Moji Christiana Adeyeye, handed the warning yesterday during a sensitization campaign against the use of unlawful chemicals on food and drugs abuse in Birnin Kebbi, saying hard time awaits violators.
Prof Adeleye, who was represented by the North West Zonal Director of the agency, Adamu Gimba, said the chemical, depending on the proportion applied on the meat, if consumed could damage human vital organs and could lead to death.
“We have many ways of getting to those that use formalin or other form of chemicals on food. One of them is the sensitization campaign which we have embarked upon. When that fails, we will go for enforcement as there are laws that empowers the agency for that,” he said.
