The National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed a total of 280.15 tons of products valued at N515, 732, 587 in Gombe State.
The destroyed items were substandard and falsified medicines, unwholesome processed food products, unsafe cosmetics and other counterfeit regulated products seized from importers and manufacturers by various NAFDAC establishments in the North-Eastern part of the country.

The exercise commenced with the reception of items from the North East zonal states in Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi and Taraba States.
A total of 240.15 tons were received from the North East states and an additional 40 tons from GSK Pharma were received and destroyed on Saturday.
Sayo Akintola, NAFDAC Resident Media Consultant, in a statement on Sunday quoted the Director General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye as saying the North East Zonal destruction were fake, counterfeit, substandard and expired products gathered by the Investigation and Enforcement (I&E) team of NAFDAC.
Prof Adeyeye was represented by the NAFDAC’s Bauchi State Coordinator, Mrs Dayilim Josephine during the destruction exercise.
