The National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed substandard, fake and expired drugs as well as food products worth N515 million.
During the destruction exercise in Gombe Saturday, the Deputy Director of the agency, Josephine Daliyim, said that the falsely labelled medicines and counterfeit regulated food products were destroyed under the agency’s regulations and control laws.

She lamented the level of adulteration of food and drugs in the Northeast sub-region, stressing that the destruction of the products would eliminate the risk of their re-introduction into markets.
The Gombe State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Pharmacist Gonzuk Bedima, appreciated the efforts of other agencies that assisted in controlling fake products from entering the markets.
