NAF Base road: Zulum urges residents to be patient on reopening

The Borno State governor, Prof. Babangana Zulum has appealed to the residents of old airport to remain calm after they sent Save Our Soul (SOS) message to him,  following frequent accidents that occurred at the barricaded Airforce base road along Maiduguri/ Kano highway, which had claimed many lives and injured several others.

The road was barricaded during the heat of insurgency around the year 2013 before insurgents carried out attacks on the facility and burnt some unserviceable aircraft.

The residents urged the state government to look into the possibility of working with the Nigerian Airforce and the military to reopen the road to forestall recurrent fatal accidents.

Zulum, while speaking when he visited the scene of an accident at Airforce Base that claimed two lives and left many injured on Monday in Maiduguri,  urged them to be patient as Borno State government under his leadership would talk with the top military officers of the Nigerian Air Force to see how they could work together to reopen the road for use.
