NACOTAN lauds Buhari for boosting cotton farming

The National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN) has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts in boosting cotton farming and production in the country through the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Anchor Borrowers’ Programme.

NACOTAN also joined stakeholders and their counterparts all over the world to commemorate the 2021 World Cotton Day on Thursday.

According to a statement jointly signed by the President and the Secretary-General of NACOTAN, Anibe Achimugu and Alhaji Hassan Buhari Tafidan Maradun respectively, the organization also greets cotton farmers on the occasion.

World Cotton Day signifies the importance of production of cotton. It is an initiative that started in 2019 at the World Trade Organization’s Geneva headquarters, when four cotton producers in sub-Saharan Africa – Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mali, known as “Cotton Four” proposed World Cotton Day celebration on October 7.
