The Osun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it arrested 207 suspects in the state in 2018 over illicit drugs.
Mr Samuel Egbeola, Osun State Commander of the NDLEA disclosed that the suspects included 194 males and 13 females.
Egbeola said 1148.538kg of illicit substances, made up of 1065.285kg of cannabis sativa and 83.25kg of psychotropic substances were seized from the suspects.
He added that 10.455 hectares of cannabis sativa farms were identified and destroyed in various locations in the state.
He said the command successfully secured the conviction of 29 drug suspects while 58 cases are still pending at the Federal High Court, Osogbo.
He added that 113 drug dependent persons were counseled last year through brief intervention by the Drug Demand Reduction Unit of the NDLEA.
Egbeola said “In year 2018, the command in the pursuit of the actualization of its mandate of making the state a drug free one, embarked on series of activities.”
