Police nab 5 IMN members in Abuja

The FCT police command says it has arrested five members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) for allegedly attempting to attack innocent citizens in the territory.

A statement by the command spokesperson, ASP Maryam Yusuf, said the five suspects also attempted to destroy public property, adding that the disbanded Shiite  sect members were arrested with large stones, which they intended to use to cause havoc.

She said the suspects would be arraigned. She said the command appealed to residents to remain calm, law-abiding.

“The police command wishes to reassure residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across the FCT,” she said.

Yusuf said the command also enjoined residents to  report suspicious movements of persons within their vicinity, or report emergency or distress via 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.
