A High Court in Owerri has refused an order filed by a former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, asking it to stop the House of Assembly from probing him over the alleged missing N19.63 local government funds.
Ihedioha had in an ex-parte application filed by his Counsel, S. A. Anyalewechi, asked for an order restraining the house from inviting or probing him over the allegedly looted funds by his administration.
The house, through its Counsel, the Attorney General of the state, C. O. C. Akaolisa, told the court that the probe was necessary to ascertain how the funds were spent.
Justice S. I. Opara, in his ruling, held that rather than grant the ex-parte application, the case would be set down for hearing and requested all parties to file necessary documents for hearing.
