The kidnapped pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Kiyi, Kuje Area Council of Abuja, Pastor Salami Olaniyi, and nine others have regained their freedom after payment of N6 million ransom to their abductors.

A member of the RCCG, who preferred anonymity, said the pastor was abducted by gunmen nine days ago alongside nine others in Anguwar Bassa, Kiyi village.

He disclosed that N1.5 million was paid as ransom for the release of the pastor, while N4.5 million was paid as ransom for the nine other victims on Saturday evening.

“We give praise to God that our pastor and nine other residents who were abducted a few days ago have been released by their abductors after a ransom,” he said.

Daily Trust also learnt that a housewife, Sadiya Badamasi, who was also abducted by kidnappers two weeks ago, at senior staff quarters in Abaji, has regained her freedom from her abductors after a N5 million ransom was paid.

A member of the victim’s family, who preferred anonymity, said the woman was released last Friday at about 5:34 pm after the ransom was delivered to them at a forest in neighbouring Kogi local government of Kogi State.

“As I speak, she was taken for a medical checkup at a private hospital because of the trauma she passed through in the hands of her abductors,” he said.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, did not pick calls or reply to a text message sent to her phone to confirm the release of both the RCCG pastor, the housewife and nine others
