N-Power volunteers protest 5 months’ salary arrears in Kaduna

N-Power volunteers on Monday besieged the Kaduna Local Government Board to protest over the non-payment of five months’ salary owed to them in 2017.

The volunteers decried the lukewarm attitude of the Kaduna state government to their plight.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Abubakar Aliyu, who said they were engaged in November 2017, explained that since their confirmation in August 2018, no salary has been paid to them.

Aliyu alleged that some of them who were close to the people in government were paid only for the month of November, leaving others helplessly.

“Before now, the youth were tagged ‘lazy’, but now we have been working and we have not been paid since August. Majority of us have family that depend on us, and instead of us to get money from the work we are doing, the reverse is the case, as many of us spend our money transporting ourselves to our point of duty, and no money was paid at the end of the month.”

He therefore urged the Kaduna state government to look into their plight and help them out of their current situation.
