The federal government has trained 3,000 youths in the South West on skills to make them self-reliant. 

The three-month training took place at the Osun College of Education, Ila-Orangun where tools were distributed to the participants after the training. 

At the end of the programme yesterday, the trainees were awarded certificates and attestations. 

The training tagged N-Knowledge was a component of the N-Power programme under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management.

An official of the ministry, Mr Victor Popoola, said the training was designed to equip the youths to become competent workers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

He said the training was aimed at preparing the youths for both the domestic and global digital job market. 

He said the N-Power (N-Knowledge) programme was meant to upskill young Nigerians on the global radar as exporters of world-class services and content in the creative and information technology sectors.

“This training component is targeted at developing competencies of the youth in software development and Hardware training which will be catalyzed as well as the groundwork to make Nigeria compete in the outsourcing market for software development.”
