Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central yesterday visited the party’s national secretariat in Abuja as part of consultations to woo the Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a letter dated July 18, 2024, and submitted to the office of the APC National Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Bashiru, yesterday, the APC stakeholders from the zone said Mutfwang is the only PDP governor in the North Central, and should join the APC in the interest of the party.
The letter reads in part, “Mr secretary Sir, this call for Mutfwang to join the APC has become necessary after reviewing the state of our party in the North Central region, as well as the position of Plateau State governor which is vital in the political equation and calculation of the APC in the region, and the nation by extension.”
The letter was submitted by the Nasarawa State chairman of the North Central APC Forum, Sani Ibrahim Jigas, on behalf of its chairman, Salleh Mandung Zazzaga.
In a short interview with newsmen, Jigas said they addressed the letter to the party’s national secretary because the North Central does not recognise Ganduje as the party’s national chairman, as the case seeking his removal is still pending at the Federal High court in Abuja.
