Cross River State Table Tennis Association has set aside Six Hundred Thousand Naira as prizes for winners of the 2nd edition of Calabar Table Tennis Challenge.
Vice chairman of the Association, Bishop Usen Umoh disclosed this during interaction with some journalists in Calabar.
He disclosed that five states from southern and southeast Nigeria have already confirmed interest in the tourney, holding from Friday 12 to 13 December 2024 at UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar.
He said the first edition was played in 2022 where prizes were won also won.

He added that this second edition will also witness ceremonial players from dignitaries such as government officials, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, and other groups.
Usen stated that through regular Table Tennis events, world champions like Offiong Edem and others who have made the state proud, were spotted.
He disclosed that this year’s Table Tennis Challenge will aim at discovering new talents.
Usen said, “At least, five states from both southern and southeast states of Nigeria will arrive UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar for the 2nd edition of the annual Table Tennis 2-day Challenge.
“Table Tennis players from Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia and Imo States have indicated interest to participate in the tourney.
“The tourney is billed to hold this weekend, Friday and Saturday, 13th and 14th December 2024.”
