The Benue State coordinator of Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Garus Gololo, yesterday appealed to Fulani herders to remain law abiding in their various host communities.
Gololo said that the appeal became necessary to forestall any crisis between herders and people of the locality, considering recent allegations that some vigilante members were harassing the herders in their areas.
“We as an association have appealed to our members to remain calm, law abiding and never resort to self-help as we have confidence in Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration to do its best in identifying the culprits and bringing them to justice,” he said.
In another development, the sole administrator of the Agatu local government area, Mike Inalegwu, has said that his people now live in peace with the herders, adding that over 50,000 cows had already moved to Agatu communities for grazing.
