Kano State Police Command has arrested one Usman Uzairu, 57, for attempting to steal a motorcycle at France Road, Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State.

Uzairu, an indigene of Dayi town in Katsina State, was arrested by a Police Mobile Force officer at a bank where he attempted stealing a Suzuki motorcycle.

The suspect who allegedly committed the act six weeks after he was freed from prison said his wives have left him for being a thief.

Parading the suspect on his Facebook page, the spokesman of the Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the man was arrested severally by the command for a series of motorcycle thefts.

On his part, the suspect also said he was just freed from prison six weeks ago having spent two years in prison.

“I was a driver and I had an accident; from then I didn’t have a car so that was what led me to stealing. I have been stealing in Kano, Bauchi and Gombe states, and I have so far stolen 10 motorcycles.

“The last time I was arrested, I was sentenced to two years in prison and it is six weeks now since I came out. It is the work of devil, I swear to Almighty God.”

The old man said over the years, his wives left him for the fact that he has been stealing, adding that this will be the last.

“My wives have left since and they said they will not live with a thief.”

However, Kiyawa said the Kano State Police Commissioner, Sama’ila Dikko, has ordered discrete investigation into the matter and that the suspect would be charged to court thereafter.
