Actually, I had been hoping to have a loving and caring husband. That is, a man that understands me very well. When I met Gbenga, I saw everything in him. He understands me, he is loving and caring.
What did you feel about your online dating?
I never thought of meeting my husband online. I had read stories of couples who met online, but I never thought it is possible. From our chats online, I was convinced that I was meeting the right man. That time, I had just graduated from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State where I studied Accountancy, He decided to come home because of me and we eventually got married. It has been a great experience since then.
While expecting him at home, were you not afraid of anything?
I was expecting the exact person I had seen in the pictures. I was afraid he might have some physical deformities, but I thank God he is a complete man.
Did your parents just consent to your decision to marry him?
At the initial stage, my father was sceptical. He said that Gbenga might be one of the yahoo boys. But I continued to convince him that I was chatting with a responsible man. My mother said I should go ahead as long as it pleased me.
What did your friends say when you told them about your online dating?
They said it was a very dangerous game I was playing. They warned me against it. They even said I should stop chatting with him online. But I told them I have my life to live. In the end, when they saw me getting married to him, they were all saying ‘Bola is lucky o’.
But are you really so lucky?
Yes, but Gbenga is lucky too (laughter).
What has been your experience since you got married to him?
It has been a great experience. Everything has been going fine. We understand each other.
