The new Emir of Lafia, Sidi Dauda Bage, has described his emergence as the will of God.
He enjoined the people of Lafia Emirate and Nasarawa State to tolerate one another for the even development of the state.
In an interview with Daily Trust, he said: “I have been chosen to be Emir of Lafia not because I am better than the other princes that contested with me, but because it is the will of God for me to succeed my forefathers on the throne to lead in guiding my people through peaceful means. Lafia and Nasarawa State is a place for all who cherish peace and we want all to emulate this good gesture.”
The 17th Emir of Lafia hailed his forefathers for engaging in inter-marriages with other ethnic groups in the area.
