In the video, which was recorded in Hausa language, Sanusi II thanked the people of Kano for their prayers and support during his reign.
“We are always thankful to Allah (SWT) for his blessings upon us. One of his blessings on me, He gave me the opportunity to be the Emir of Kano on 8 of June, 2014. He gave me the life and health to rule for almost six years on this throne of ours. Today, Allah (SWT) that gives has taken it back.
“We have been saying this long before that rulership has a life span, and if the time comes, you must leave either you like it or not.

“Based on that, we have accepted what Allah has destined. We accepted it in good faith, and we are happy knowing fully well that it will be the best for us.
“We are thankful to the people of Kano for the years; we appreciate their supports, love and prayers. And we are also thankful to our traditional title holders and others.
“We have ordered our families, and all the people that we can talk to, to accept and follow whoever Allah chooses as the new emir. We asked them to protect his dignity, as his dignity is the dignity of this house.
“We are also calling on the people to remain calm. We want to assure them that Allah never make mistakes. What He does, is the right thing”
