A 13 year-old girl has recounted to operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) how her aunty’s husband made her watch pornography on his phone before he allegedly defiled her.
The suspect identified as Charles Ekwe, was nabbed by a gender based unit of Lagos State Command of NSCDC, based on information received.

The minor told the team of interrogators that her elder aunty’s husband started sleeping with her before the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic.
In her statement, the victim said her aunty’s husband whom she calls ”daddy” started sexually assaulting her early this year.
“He does that when my aunty leaves the house and also at his shop where he trades. He exposed me to pornography on his phone and threatened to kill me if i tell anybody” she said.
She further disclosed that the assault has occurred on several occasions that she has lost counts.
The victim’s aunty, Mrs Blessing Ekwe, in her statement said the girl has been living with them for the past four years after the death of her father and that she noticed that something was wrong three weeks ago.
She said this prompted her to interrogate the girl and she opened up by telling her that the suspect had been sexually abusing her. She then took her for medical examination and it was confirmed that she had been defiled.
On his part, the suspect admitted to committing the crime, but insisted that he only fondled her genitals and made her watch pornography on his phone.
The commandant, Lagos State Command of NSCDC ,Mr Ayeni Paul, said the gender based unit of the Command arrested the 48-year- old man, Mr Charles Ekwe on October 12, 2020 for sexually abusing a 13 year old girl, Chinyere Everest who is his wife’s niece at 1B Surulere Street, Ojo Lagos State.
He suspect started abusing the 13-year-old before the Covid 19 locked down and she was scared to report to her aunty.
He said: ” the suspect will face the full wrath of the law and will be handed over to the appropriate agency for further investigation and prosecution. He further stated that this is a heinous crime and all perpetuators of such when caught will be made to pay dearly.
Reiterating the corps readiness to combat crime in the state, the commandant said the corps will not rest on it’s oars in ensuring a crime free Lagos. He also said the gender based Unit of the Corps which is saddled with the responsibility of handling rape, domestic violence, sexual assault and defilement as well as child abuse cases had well trained officers to handle such cases and enjoined the populace to feel free to make such reports.
