Owner of Popular Titogate eatery in Benue State, Chief Isaac Akinkunmi, who was released from kidnappers den after three days in captivity, has said his captors exhibited kindness towards him.

Akinkunmi made the remark while narrating his ordeal to newsmen in Makurdi after regaining his freedom.

“God put in the mind of my captors to be kind to me. They gave me something to keep me alive and make me return relatively healthy. My message for my captors is that God will help them to repent. I have forgiven them. They should repent before it is too late,” he said.

The business man explained that the abductors rode him on a motorbike to a junction within Makurdi metropolis at about 12:45am on Monday and then handed him his phone.

He recalled that they (captors) earlier gained access into his room without breaking in on that fateful Friday and blindfolded him before  abducting him to an unknown destination, adding that it was a mystery how they got into his house.

Akinkunmi, who maintained silence over ransom allegedly collected by the kidnappers, said he owed his freedom to God as he thanked  the Benue Governor, security agencies and the people of the state for praying for him.

“Their prayer worked. I was still  recovering from an accident when this (kidnap) occurred. I thank God for my deliverance,” he added.

The business mogul further stressed the importance for the federal and state governments to create jobs for youths through good policies so they don’t remain idle.

“Government should ensure our children are trained in school and where they cannot continue, they should learn trades. Our youths only want quick money these days rether than learning a trade. Most of the youths prefer Okada business than learning mechanic jogs because of quick money. This is not good because youths are drifting into wrong profession instead of learning profitable trade,” Akinkunmi said.
